In addition to physical discomfort, improper care can lead to
heatstroke, which can lead to heat illness and endanger life.

In a high-temperature environment, if symptoms such as excessive sweating, thirst, dizziness, chest tightness, nausea, weakness, and numbness in limbs occur, one should consider the possibility of heatstroke. Depending on the severity of the symptoms, heatstroke can be classified into mild and severe heatstroke.
Mild heatstroke is characterized by dizziness, headache, flushed face, thirst, excessive sweating, fatigue, palpitations, rapid pulse, lack of concentration, and uncoordinated movements, with body temperature rising above 38.5 degrees.
Severe heatstroke includes three types: heat illness, heat cramps, and heat exhaustion, and can also present in a mixed form. Severe heatstroke can lead to coma and even death.
When the above-mentioned heatstroke conditions occur, one should respond quickly and do the following:
① Move the patient from the high-temperature environment to a cool, ventilated place, and give them some cool drinks containing salt or light salt water.
② Apply cooling oil or essential oil to the patient's temples, or take medications such as Ren Dan or Huo Xiang Zheng Qi water. (Those who work outdoors in high temperatures should consider carrying some heatstroke medications.)
③ If body temperature continues to rise, use a cool, damp towel or ice pack to cool the head, armpits, and groin to help the patient dissipate heat more quickly.
④ If severe heatstroke symptoms occur (or in patients with mild heatstroke who have poor physical condition), be sure to call emergency services immediately and take the patient to the hospital for treatment.
1. Drink plenty of water to prevent heatstroke
The first tip to prevent heatstroke is to drink plenty of water. In most cases, drinking more water is beneficial to the body. In high temperatures, drinking more water can timely replenish the body's moisture. Alternatively, a small amount of salt can be added to boiled water to help replenish calcium and trace elements in the body, while also preventing heatstroke.
2. Wear loose clothing to prevent heatstroke
Wearing loose clothing in the hot summer helps dissipate heat from the body and allows sweat to evaporate quickly, effectively preventing heatstroke.
3. Eat more fruits and vegetables and supplement protein to prevent heatstroke
Fresh vegetables and fruits, such as tomatoes, watermelon, and bitter melon, can help prevent heatstroke. Additionally, in hot weather, it is important to supplement enough protein by eating more fish, eggs, beans, and other foods.
4. Keep anti-heatstroke medications on hand to prevent heatstroke
When going out, one can carry some anti-heatstroke medications in their bag, such as Huo Xiang Zheng Qi water, cooling oil, and Shi Di Shui. Applying them when feeling dizzy can help prevent heatstroke.
5. Ensure adequate sleep to prevent heatstroke
In high-temperature weather, physical exertion is greater, leading to fatigue and the occurrence of heatstroke. Therefore, it is important to ensure adequate sleep to allow the brain and other systems to rest fully, so that one can start the new day refreshed and energetic, effectively preventing heatstroke.
