We all know that sensory integration is important for children's physical and mental development, so we send them for sensory integration training when they are very young. However, some parents do not recognize the importance of sensory integration and feel helpless when their children exhibit a series of problems, not knowing what is wrong with them or why they suddenly changed. What they do not realize is that their child may have sensory integration dysfunction!

Firstly, sensory integration dysfunction is not a true medical condition. Children with sensory integration dysfunction generally have normal intelligence; it is just that the coordination between different parts of their brain and body is impaired, preventing many of their excellent qualities from being expressed. Usually, children can easily correct sensory integration dysfunction through training before the age of 12, but once they surpass this age, it becomes fixed and cannot be changed. This is why some children are very smart when they are young but become average as they grow up.

So what are the manifestations when these problems occur?

Tactile issues

1. Avoiding contact, insisting on holding certain objects for a sense of security, not liking games that involve physical contact, and disliking certain textures of clothing.

2. Disliking being touched, hating haircuts, baths, and brushing teeth, and not enjoying crafts like painting, sand, or clay work.

8. Restlessly fidgeting, touching everything, not listening to advice, and punishment is ineffective.

9. Enjoys teasing, causing trouble, and playing pranks.

10. Often talks to themselves, repeats others' words, and enjoys reciting advertising slogans.

11. Appears to be left-handed but uses both hands without a fixed preference.

12. Cannot distinguish left from right, often wears shoes and clothes incorrectly.
